So while I was trying to determine the time difference between Luxembourg and New York I came across some very interesting things about Daylight-Saving Time. The first thing I found interesting was that The US "Springs Forward" 3 full weeks before our European counterparts. It is hypothesized that we use less energy during DST and so George W. moved the dated that the US springs forward after 3 weeks to study this. Personally I think its because Americans like longer evenings in the summer, but let the government think what they want.
all this reading on DST got me thinking. In the Southern Hemisphere, do they spring forward in March with the northern hemisphere or would they "fall back" because it is technically their fall? and if they do "fall back" how much more confusing can calculating time differences be...jeeze.
Personally I love DST. I wish we had it all year round and I am looking forward to losing an hour this weekend and having the sun shine on me next week when I leave work. Maybe all those government officials will conclude that yes, we do save energy and it should be all year long...or maybe I should just get to work an hour early so I'm done by 4...either way, looking forward to the Spring!
