1 day into the get healthy plan and I totally blew it. Now I can't miss a workout all week because I had my indulgent meal last night. I did make it to the gym though and even lifted weights so it's not a total loss. And my meal was healthy other than the pate and dessert (hehehehe). Violated the wine rule too and had way too much making today a little difficult, but I'm getting thru. Oh and I had an English muffin with cream cheese for breakfast, not cereal, but I needed to soak up the port from dessert.
Tonight is swim class so I'll be back on track. And Joel is leaving at 5 so I should be able to get to the gym at by 6:30 to work out even before I swim.

one of those days
Today has been one of those days, you know the days when no one gets back to you in a timely manner when they finally do its with the answer you didn't want; the one where your boss is grouchy and you made a judgement call that happened to be the wrong one; the one where you haven't accomplished anything worth while, but you'll still have to stay late...yep one of those days.
But there isn't much I can do about it, is there? It's after 5 now and we've made it thru most of the afternoon. Its almost time for my first run thru Central Park since the marathon, even if I have to do it in Big Brown with my back pack. And I'm taking Friday off so technically today is my hump. And I have 3 4-day weeks in a row. That is the greatest thing ever!!! We're in Austin this weekend and the weather is supposed to be BEAUTIFUL. Life can't get much better. Well if it were 6:15 and Joel said I could go home, that would be better...but all considered, it's pretty darn good right now!
Hmmm...maybe I'll grab a Chai tea. Haven't had any caffeine today.

Today's get healthy update
Well I didn't do as well as I had hoped last night on the eating plan. I was good all day, even passed on my potato chips and had carrots instead and followed that up with a pear as a snack...but by the time we got to dinner I was famished. I'm going to have to eat more snacks. I ate almost a whole bowl of stir fry knowing it was too much, but being so hungry that I couldn't stop. I did limit myself to less then 1/2 a bottle of wine. Even though he won't admit it, Wade did have more wine than me.
Then today I sucked it up even more and didn't get up for the gym. I stayed up until 1 reading my book and when the alarm went off at 5:15, I just couldn't bring myself to get up. The thing is, I didn't even go back to sleep I just laid there and stewed about it. Now I'm regretting not going.
At least my diet has been clean today. I have a combo bowl of cereal with strawberries and for a snack I had a bowl of berries. For lunch I'm waiting on a spinach salad with only veggies and low-fat dressing. We'll see how dinner goes. That always seems to be the hard meal.
Until later...

First get healthy report
This morning I ran with Parx from the house to the horses and back. It took us about 35 minutes.
For breakfast I had a bowl of Uncle Sam cereal with some blueberries. For lunch I had a hummus, tomato, cucumber sandwich and some baby carrots. I have 2 Chai teas to keep me awake, both with a splash of soy milk. I've had 1.5L of water so far.
Last night at the gym I weighed 146 pounds. I would like to weigh 130 pounds by Memorial Day.

Daylight-Saving Time
So while I was trying to determine the time difference between Luxembourg and New York I came across some very interesting things about Daylight-Saving Time. The first thing I found interesting was that The US "Springs Forward" 3 full weeks before our European counterparts. It is hypothesized that we use less energy during DST and so George W. moved the dated that the US springs forward after 3 weeks to study this. Personally I think its because Americans like longer evenings in the summer, but let the government think what they want.
all this reading on DST got me thinking. In the Southern Hemisphere, do they spring forward in March with the northern hemisphere or would they "fall back" because it is technically their fall? and if they do "fall back" how much more confusing can calculating time differences be...jeeze.
Personally I love DST. I wish we had it all year round and I am looking forward to losing an hour this weekend and having the sun shine on me next week when I leave work. Maybe all those government officials will conclude that yes, we do save energy and it should be all year long...or maybe I should just get to work an hour early so I'm done by 4...either way, looking forward to the Spring!

Another Monday
1/7 of my life is spent on Mondays. Why do I hate them so much? Granted they aren't like Fridays when everyone is in a good mood and looking forward to the weekend...but that doesn't mean I should hate this day. So today I'm going to focus on making my Monday a better day. I'm going to appreciate that I have a job to come to instead of sulking about the fact that I have to work. I'm going to smile at everyone I encounter today because sometimes just being happy on the outside makes you happy on the inside. And I'm going to look out the window at the beautiful sunshine. People are always saying that life is too short, and I totally agree. So why let any day, be it Monday or Friday go by unappreciated. Work is inevitable. We have to do it if we want to live in this great country and we have to live by our country's ridiculous standards of minimal vacation. and not all jobs are going to fulfill you life long dreams of doing something great, but at the end of the day I want to look back and say I did my job to the best of my ability, however insignificant it may be, and I did it happily because this is the life that I have and I intend to enjoy it!
Happy Monday world!!!
