Birthday Dinner at Nobu

Last night for my birthday Wade took me to Nobu and we had the Omakase (chef's tasting). It was phenomenal and if you ever have the chance to do it (and don't mind spending the money) you must. If I remember correctly we had: torro with caviar in wasabe soy, yellow tail sashimi with salad and special sauce, Japanese snapper with ginger root, black cod in miso glaze, lobster tempura in special sauce, miso soup, 5 pieces of sushi, salmon sashimi (we added this) and molten chocolate cake with ice cream. I can't decide which was my favorite...they were all so tasty and different and I appreciated each course in itself. This Omakase different from a typical sushi omakase because they incorporated their signature dishes into it as opposed to just serving sushi and sashimi. It was a perfect amount of food!!! Loved it.

My Special Day

Today is my birthday. I am using it as an opportunity to look at my life, evaluate where I am compared to where I want to be and focus on making positive changes so that I become a happier person.

One of the things I have contemplated is keeping a journal, but for some reason or another I have trouble committing to writing in one on a daily basis. And then I was introduced to blogging. This could be the outlet I've been searching for...

So here's my story today. I'm 33 today. I'm married to a wonderful man who had roses waiting for me when I got home from work last night, who did all the dinner dishes this morning and who is taking me out to celebrate tonight. We live in the West Village in New York City in studio apartment that does not have a washer and dryer. We have a dog (for which this blog is named) and a cat that share our apartment with us.

We moved to NYC from Austin, TX in November 06 for my husband's job and have been enjoying city life. In Austin I worked for a man who didn't except that we were moving and he agreed to pay me to "consult" for him from the city. Well as you can imagine, that gig only lasted so long and so I find myself today working for a large hedge fund in mid-town. I'm typing this at work right now so they'll probably read it...if so, HI COMPLIANCE TEAM!!!

OK, enough back ground...

My plan with this blog is to jot down my thoughts and feelings, even use it as a place to vent or dream. Today I feel like I had a lot to write, but now that I have introduced myself to the blog, I feel a bit...hmmm...like I don't have much to say. I'm sure that will change.

Until a later time...
